Although he has great aspirations, Apprentice Warden (AW) is still a student. He helps the troops with his magical Life Aura and his less-magical slingshot.

Apprentice Warden is a troop in Clash of Clans. They are offensive and defensive in support of your clan.

Outline

Apprentice Warden (AW) is a company of Dark Elixir Troops, unlocked when Dark Barracks are upgraded to level 10. This requires Town Hall 13 level.

This Warden supports other troops with its own Life Aura within its radius. This phenomenon is similar to Grand Warden’s Life Aura, providing a health Bonus. The Life Aura percentage increase may be lower than the Grand Warden’s, but there’s no cap on the amount of HP that can be obtained from it.

The Life Aura can impact nearly all units, including Heroes and Siege Machines, whether on the ground or in the air. However, the AW himself is the only unit type that remains unaffected.

Apprentice Wardens do not choose a specific target when they attack. They will instead attack the nearest building within range. If they encounter enemy troops while shooting a building, they immediately abandon their target and engage them instead. Once the nearby forces are defeated, the AW will promptly switch their focus back to attacking the nearest building.

In terms of functionality, the AW operates in a manner that is comparable to that of the Grand Warden. However, unlike the latter, the Apprentice Warden does not have a specific target assigned to it. Instead, it prioritizes following other troops within its vicinity, as long as there is an ample number of them present. Once it has identified a group of troops to follow, the AW will then proceed to engage in combat with the same target as the other troops.

The AW is unable to fly, unlike the Grand Warden. However, he can still pass over Walls like the Grand Warden in ground mode.

Aside from his Life Aura, the AW deals moderately low damage per second with his slingshot, which can target ground and air units from a considerable range.

Apprentice Warden: Strategy

Offensive

• It’s important to note that the aura of an AW doesn’t combine with the Life Aura of a Grand Warden or other AW. The stronger aura will always take precedence. The Grand Warden’s aura will be more effective for troops with lower health unless they are low-leveled. However, for troops with higher health, the Apprentice Warden’s aura is more potent as it has an uncapped health bonus.
• In situations where a Grand Warden is not accessible for assistance, the AW is a fitting alternative to consider.
  • This strategy can also be employed for funneling or for a kill squad. However, it is still advisable to position the Grand Warden at the center of the base due to the effectiveness of the Eternal Tome Ability.
• AW also serves as a valuable aid to the Archer Queen, as they share the same range of 5 tiles.
• When using the AW, it’s important to pair him with the Log Launcher or Flame Flinger as he can significantly boost their health. This is especially true since their HP decay is fixed. However, it’s important to note that the AW can overtake these slow-moving Siege Machines, which can cause him to move his aura away from them or expose him to defenses and risk being destroyed prematurely.

Defensive

• When used as a Clan Castle troop, it is beneficial to support tank CC troops as it can increase their health without limitations. Additionally, it can be helpful in boosting heroes located in the center of the base. However, placing this troop near the defending Grand Warden may result in only the strongest Life Aura being activated, which could waste the potential of one of the auras. It is important to remember that the Life Aura does not affect buildings.
  • It is not practical to have two Apprentice Wardens in the same Clan Castle complement because of the non-stacking of the Life Auras.

Difference in Level Upgrade

• At level 1, the AW seems to be a young, short student who resembles the Grand Warden. He has a brown (possibly leather) belt with a small bag next to it. His outfit is purple and white with a purple and white cape. He carries a tall staff looking slingshot and has a purple hat with a brown stripe.
• When reaching level 2, the Apprentice Warden receives a Capital Gold Badge with a purple hue and a grey outline. Though the cape, outfit, and hat remain the same color, the hat now features a feather.
• At level 3, the outfit color has changed from purple and white to dark purple and white. The Capital Gold Badge and the feather on the hat remain the same. The hat and cape also changed to their respective colors. The stripe on the hat has changed to a dark purple.
• At level 4, the hat’s dark purple stripe has changed to a golden stripe. The Capital Gold Badge is now more vibrant and has a golden outline.

Trivia

• There is a particular troop within the game with a unique aura that enhances the health of other forces.
• If the troop’s health is at 1916 or above, employing the Apprentice Warden’s aura is recommended. Conversely, if the troop’s health is lower, it’s best to utilize the Grand Warden’s aura (assuming both characters are at their maximum level).
• It’s worth noting that while the Grand Warden is classified as an Elixir Hero, the Apprentice Warden falls under the category of Dark Elixir troop.
